- BECKER, ELIZA (Nee Lydon)
Widow of Henry Becker of Crieff in Puslinch Township, at her residence, 28 Cameron St. in Galt, on Friday morning, [February 4, 1898]. Mrs. Becker only took ill Friday, bronchitis being the trouble. Not anything was thought of it until Wednesday, when the symptoms became alarming and she gradually became worse. She was aged 62 years. She and her husband were residents of Crieff for many years, where they carried on the business of general merchant. Two years ago, Mrs. Becker removed to Galt. Four sons and one daughter survive her. The daughter is Mrs. James E. Bond of Galt. The sons are Dr. Henry Becker of Parkdale; E. L. Becker of Rat Portage; R. Charles Becker of Medicine Hat; and Edward of Kaslo, BC. On Monday at 11, her body was laid to rest in the graveyard at Crieff, in the presence of those who, knowing her in life, revered her in death. Rev. Dr. King conducted the service at the house and Rev. Robertson of Morriston at the Crieff Church. Her sons, sons-in-law and James E. Bond and Richard Bond were the pallbearers.
