- Joseph Schneider, "the fourth member of Christian and Elizabeth (Erb) Schneider's family, was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, January 12th, 1796. When ten years of age his parents moved to Canada and in spring 1806, they settled near Doon where he was raised. On February 27th, 1820, he was married to Mary, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Bear) Baumann. She was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, September 26th, 1794, and died in Waterloo Township, February 11th, 1838. After her death he was again married, March 31st 1839, to Anna Catharine Weicker who was born November 21st, 1813, and died April 12th 1890. No issue of second married. On March 20th, 1820 he moved on his farm, lot No. 63, German Company Tract, where he resided until his death which took place February 21st, 1874. To him and his first wife were born two children"
