- MARTIN, Eldon H. - Peacefully, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 25, 2009 at his home. Eldon H. Martin, in his 84th year, of Elmira. Beloved husband of Ina (Snyder) Martin for 32 years. Predeceased by his first wife, Ruby (Bauman) Martin (1975). Loving and devoted father of Gerald Martin and Donna Holmes of Vancouver Island, Karen and Gene Zdebiak of Vulcan, Alberta. Devoted grandfather of Monica (Chris) Martin, Marcia (Cal) Martin, Zak Zdebiak and Gypsy Rose Zdebiak, and great-grandfather of Jazlyn and Carson; Chase, Logan and Jenna. Dear brother of Lorne and Melba Martin of Elmira, Angus and Florence Martin of Hamilton, Albert and Ruby Martin of Elmira, Ron and Jill Martin of Elmira. Also lovingly remembered by the Snyder family, Naomi Snyder, Salome Harrison, Edith and Harry Pekarek, Paul and Martha Snyder, Floyd and Sylvia Snyder. Predeceased by his parents, Enos and Wilhelmina Martin, and one brother in infancy. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Thursday, May 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At 9 a.m. on Friday, transfer will be made to the Elmira Mennonite Church for a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. to celebrate Eldon's life and faith. The casket will remain open in the church until 10: 40 a.m. Interment in the Elmira Mennonite Cemetery. In his memory, donations to Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
