  John Clemens, "was born May 7th, 1822. He resided in Hespeler where he died. He was married twice, first to Nancy Gingerich and after her decease to Mary Henry. To him and his first wife was born one child, a daughter, and with his second wife two children, a daughter and son" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character.
