    • ELROY SCHMITT 1912 - 2005 Passed away peacefully at A. R. Goudie Eventide Home on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the age of 93 years.Predeceased by his loving wife, Pearl in 2003. Dear father of Marilyn Schmitt, Cheryl (Gord) Blair, Susan (Paul) Voll; loving grandfather of Kathy-Ann, Carol, Matthew, Kevin, Jessica and Fraser. Also survived by his sisters, Winnifred Witzel, Leona Harbridge, Mary Forster and sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella Hipel, Helen Hipel, Ken (Gloria) Hipel, and Roy (Joan) Hipel. Besides his loving wife, Elroy was also predeceased by his parents, Ephriam and Ella as well as his brothers, Weston, Alvin, and Wilfred. Born February 29, 1912, Elroy only officially celebrated 23 leap year birthdays. Elroy was a founding member and Trustee of Faith Evangelical Missionary Church where he belonged to the Silver Set. He was employed at Schneider Foods for over 30 years. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people especially those he crossed paths with while selling Watkins products from his home and at the Waterloo Farmers Market. As a member of the Victoria School Senior Citizens Centre he enjoyed shuffleboard and lawn bowling. Having grown up on a farm, Elroy loved gardening and puttering in his yard and tool shed. Friends are invited to share their memories of Elroy with his family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday (today), May 19, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Elroy's life will be held at Faith Evangelical Missionary Church, 3849 King Street East, Kitchener on Friday, May 20, 2005 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. J. Allan Shantz officiating. Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau. A special thank you is extended from the family to the nurses, PSWs and all the other staff of A.R. Goudie Eventide Home for the loving care they demonstrated to our father in his five years of residence. In Elroy's memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of K-W or Faith Evangelical Missionary Church and can be arranged by calling the Edward R. Good Funeral Home.
