- SHANTZ, Howard\emdash 222 Jacob St. New Hamburg, passed away at St. Mary's General Hospital, Oct 15, 1975, born in Wilmot Township, Dec. 6, 1913, age 61.
A lifelong resident and was employed at Sunar in Waterloo; a member of Holy Family RC Church, New Hamburg, and member of Branch 532, Royal Canadian Legion.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Hilda Snyder. He is survived by his father, Mannesah Shantz, also by his wife, the former Anne Skidmore, and was the former Mrs. Frank Cleary.
Also survived by two sons, Bruce of Kitchener, Lyle of St. Agatha; four step-sons, Frank Cleary of Kitchener, Alfred of New Hamburg, Robert of Stratford, and John of New Hamburg; one step-daughter, Mrs. James (Pauline) Ruttan of Route 3, Listowel; brothers, Wilfred, St. Agatha, Robert, Route 2, Baden, Nyle of Route 2, Baden, Ion of Millbank, Armand of Heidelberg, Mallon of Kitchener, Arley, Route 2, Petersburg; sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Etta Shantz), Route 2, Waterloo, Mrs. Lloyd (Ida) Schwartzentruber, Kitchener, Mrs. Aaron (Esther) Enns, Kitchener; also nine grandchildren.
Will rest at the Bruce J. Omand funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg. Family prayers will be held today at 8 p.m. A Legion memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, at 8:30 p.m. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Friday, followed by requiem mass at Holy Family Church, at 10 a.m. Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
