  • Notes
    • Give us your rapt attention
      Oh maidens fancy free,
Here are the Leap Year Chances
That will make your sorrows free.

      Carl Anderson has been patient
      Looking forward to the year,
Now if some girls would ask him
It would fill his heart with cheer.

      Fred Walker is another
      Still in the Bachelor's row,
      He'd accept you any minute
      Anyone would tell you so.

Harry Miller, a real good farmer
Has no time for girls at all,
So it's plain your hours are wasted
      When on him you call.

      Then comes Bruce Graham
      As patient as can be,
If the girls think he won't marry,
Just ask him once and see.

Jack Tye, a fine young man is he,
He smiles and that with vim,
But Girls don't waste your precious time
      A Milverton girl's got him.

John Graham is still at large,
And many a girl would sigh
And the prospect would be bright,
So it's really worth a try.

Ed Anderson, happy as can be,
For him a girl should try
Just put your cake upon the shelf
You'll get him by and by.

      Reg Puddicombes' grand big house
      Without a wife looks bare,
But before some girl gets him,
You'll have to use a snare.

      York and Arthur Nahrgang
      Two handsome lads they be,
Now girls don't miss asking them
Or these two will go free.

Norman Kocher is still with us
And he is going to stay,
      So if some girl proposes,
I'm sure that it will pay.

      Clarence Graham and Joe Brenneman,
      Both young you must agree,
If you think they would not want you,
Just ask them once and see.

So all you girls in Haysville,
      Who chance to this rhyme
      The "Bachelors" of the neighbourhood
Await you to name the time.

Now show them you can do it,
      The way is surely clear,
Pick out "your man" and bear in mind
It's a long time till next leap year
      .
