- KOEBEL, WILBERT -
After a long and valiant battle with cancer, on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at the age of 68, Willy went home to be with his Lord and his loving wife Joan (Heimpel) who predeceased him on December 26, 2005.
Loving father of Brenda and Tim Keller of Waterloo, David and Angie Koebel of St. Clements, Wayne and Sue Koebel and Yvonne and Trevor Roy, all of Elmira.
Grandfather of Tyler and Matt Keller, Ryan and Alicia Koebel, Kourtney and Kelsey Koebel and Ashley Winfield. Step grandfather to Amanda, Tyler, and Trentan Roy.
Brother to Grace (Howard) Dietrich, Leonard (Sharon) Koebel, Marlene (Tom) Curtis, Edward (Iva) Koebel, Bernard (Judy) Koebel, Paul (Jody) Koebel and Roy (Patricia) Koebel. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen Koebel and his sister Janet.
Brother in law to Ray (Janet) and Harold (Connie) Heimpel of Waterloo.
Willy spent his life in the construction industry, making dreams come true for many families. He proudly put his name W. J. Koebel Construction on many custom homes in the area. His proudest design was the breathtaking cottage that he built for Joan and himself at Colpoys Bay.
He and Joan enjoyed years of poker games with The Dam Gang and trips to the Casino. Willy also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies. His friends and family fondly remember his fearless attitude to try new and creative business ventures. He played as hard as he worked.
In the final years of his life, Willy volunteered much of his time driving for the Cancer Society.
