Wants to be a Globe Trotter

Mr. Geo. O. Philip received the letter given below from a Berlin youth who aches to become famous and believes his forte lies in circumventing the earth:

      Boston, March 5th, 1897.

      DEAR SIR

I am now in Boston, and am going to England again. Say, you know this Fraser, the trotter, well he never got here, I asked at the Boston Globe yesterday about him, but nobody ever heard or seen him around here, what do you think of this. I think that Mr. Fraser is a fake. Did the Daily NEWS-RECORD have anything to say about my disappearance, and if so, what did they say. Send me a copy of the paper of Tuesday, March 2nd, to Belfast, Ireland, in care of John Mehaffey, 13 Copperfield st., Duncairn Gardens, Belfast, Ireland. I don't think I will call on Berlin for the next 2 or 3 years, and if I should, something serious must turn up. Give my best regards to Johnnie Kress, Philip Schmidt, Mr. Edward Lang of the Boehmer Co., and the sports in general. Joe Walcott was defeated by Tommy West of New York. I had a good time coming from Buffalo, N. Y. to Boston. It took from Tuesday evening 6 o'clock till Thursday morning 7 o'clock, to make the trip, on a freight. I passed through the great Hoosack Tunnel, which is four and a half miles long. I will close new and bid you a kind adieu.

      Yours truly,
      O. E. WIEGAND, Berlin, Ontario

      P. S. Let the NEWS-RECORD man know about this Fraser.
