      Community Loses Prominent and Public-spirited Citizen in His. 78th year


      After an illness of a few weeks; there passed away on Friday, January 21st, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Deans Cochrane, Murdo McRae Lillico, in his 78th year.

      Born in Blenheim township, a son of the late Robert Lillico and Isabelle McRae, He farmed where Hugh Guthrie now resides until removing to Ayr some six years ago..

      A lifelong member of Knox United Church, serving in various branches of the work, he was a member of Session and acted as clerk of that body for many years.

      Mr. Lillico belonged to Dolman Lodge, I.O.O.P., and was a director of Ayr Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company for over 30 years.

      Surviving is his widow, the former Margaret Gourlay a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Main (Isabelle), having predeceased him some 12 years. Also surviving is sister, Miss Elizabeth Lillico, Blenheim. township.

      The Funeral

      The funeral took place Monday, January 24th, with a private service at the house at 1: 30 attended by close relatives, At the church, members of the Session met as a body and acted as flower bearers. Vernon Ventham. kindly sang "The City and the Foursquare" Rev. R. A. Steed conducted the services assisted by Rev. Richard D. D., of Toronto and Rev. J. W. Currie. The pallbearers were: P. L. Gourlay, Murdo McRae, J. W. Maus, F. R. McGrogan, Hugh Guthrie and Richard Baxter. Internment took place in Ayr Cemetery.
