    • Charles Mackie

      Long-time Ayr resident, Charles Alexander Mackie, died at the Kitchener-Waterloo Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Thursday, June 18, 1998. Mr. Mackie was in his 79th year. Born in South Dumfries Township, he was a son of the late Catherine Grant and William Mackie. Mr. Mackie was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the Essex Scottish Regiment. He is survived by his wife, Jessie McRae; two daughters, Catherine and her husband Brock Moore of RR 4, Cambridge and Margaret and her husbandAlastair McNeil ofAyr; his grand-son, Nicholas McNeil; and by sisters, Margaret Mackie of Winnipeg and Catherine and her husband Harold Lannin of Cambridge. He was predeceased by brothers, Douglas and Roland. Funeral service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home on Monday, June 22nd. Rev. Fred Hagle of Knox United Church, Ayr, officiated. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery.
