      Well-known Ayr resident, Ian McPherson McRae, died at the Willett Hospital, Paris, on Wednesday, July 31st, 2002. Ian was in his 72nd year. Born in Paris, he was a son of the late Catherine May Kennedy and Thomas Alexander McRae. For many years he farmed at RR 3, Ayr, before moving into Ayr. Ian was a long-time Director and Past Presi d ent of the Paris Agricultural Society; Director and Past President of the Canadian Shorthorn Association; Past Councillor of North Dumfries Township; former Director of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair; Director of the Ayr Cemetery Board; member of the Ayr Lawn Bowling Club, Knox United Church and Farmers' Euchre Club of Cambridge. He was a long-time Scottish entertainer. He is survived by his wife Katie (Cornford); his children Liz and Joe Michiels of Bright, Peter and Kim of Paris, Anne and Curtis Locke of London, Jamie and Kim of Ayr; grandchildren Adam, Michelle, Andrew and Heather, Nicole and Matt, Jeff, Jennifer, Jill and Jason, Marsha, Graham, Cathy and great-grandsons Noah and Harrison; brother Murray and Dorothy ,of Denfield; sister Jessie Mackie of Ayr; sister-in-law Marian and Reg Walker of Cambridge and brother-in-law John Cornford of Ayr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home then to Knox United Church where funeral service was held on Saturday, August 3 at 3: 00 p.m. Pallbearers were grandsons Adam, Andrew, Matt, Jeff, Jason and Graham. Cremation followed with interment of cremated remains in the Ayr Cemetery.
