- Eli Clemens, "was born June 21st, 1815. He resided for a number of years on a part of lot No. 49, German Company's Tract, about three miles south-west of Berlin. He was first married to Sallie Hagey who came from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, single. She was second-cousin to Bishop Hagey. She died about the year 1842. After her decease he was married to Leah Bowman, May 30th, 1843. She was born December 4th, 1813, and died October 4th, 1871. To them were born eight children"
