- SCHMIDT, Lloyd Simon With his family at his side, Lloyd passed away peacefully at Freeport Hospital after a brief illness, on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in his 77th year. He was born February 12, 1936 in Mornington Twp. Lloyd leaves his special love of 51 years, Shirley (Schneider) and his four children, Deborah Loepp (Michael), Sharon Gauthier (Mike), Douglas Schmidt (Kasey), and Heather Verwey (Chris). Cherished Grampa to seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Benjamin, Justin, Courtney, David, Sydney, and Haley. Lloyd was the oldest of seven children; he is survived by Earl Schmidt (Lina), Laura Gilmore (Paul), Ruth Kuenzie (Charles), John Schmidt, Mary Hagedorn (Bob), and Harvey Schmidt (Heidy), and Shirley's family. Predeceased by his parents, Alvin Schmidt and Vera (McLellan) and in- laws, Seibert Schneider and Beulah (Witmer). Lloyd was dedicated to his family and his faith, being a long time member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church. Lloyd always put his customers first as owner/operator of car nine with Waterloo Taxi for 31 years. "Always on time with number 9". In his retirement he continued to serve his community as a dedicated volunteer delivering Christmas Hampers for the House of Friendship and driving for the Live and Learn Program. Lloyd had a passion for his Fords, camping, and nature, but his biggest passion was his family. He will not be forgotten. Family and friends will be received at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 24, 2012 at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Ave. N., Kitchener at 1 p.m. Interment in Parkview Cemetery. Reception to follow at the church. Thank you to all of the staff at Grand River Hospital and UT3 Freeport Hospital for your caring and compassion of our father.
