Notes |
- Christian Clemens, "was born October 18, 1828. After his marriage he resided in different places in the county, the last of which, before he moved to Michigan, was Berlin where he was engaged in the blacksmithing and horseshoeing business. Some thirty years ago he moved to Kent County, Michigan, where he has since been engaged in farming. He was first married to Lydia, daughter of Wendel and Susannah (Bricker) Bowman. After her decease he was married to Leah, daughter of Elias ands Polly (Clemens) Bowman. (She was the widow of the late Samuel S. Betzner). To him and his first wife were born two children, namely: VII Albert, who died young, and VII Lena who resides at Grand Rapids, Michigan; and with second wife there are six children".
