Notes |
- COMMITS SUICIDE IN BERLIN
With no apparent reason for the rash act, Charles Becking, aged 38 years, took his own life by drinking carbolic acid at his home. Albert street, west, about 4.30 o'clock Monday afternoon.
The deceased was employed as teamster at Potter's hardware store, but had not been at work on Satur+day or Monday It is reported he took the acid in the presence of his eldest daughter whom he asked for some water, saying he was going to take some medicine. She noticed the label and tried to take it out of his hands, but he quickly downed the acid which proved fatal. Dr. Huehnergard was summoned, but before reaching him he was dead.
