      PRESTON, April 12. Well-known Preston resident, for the past 33 years, Herbert Frederick Thompson, 84, died early this morning, at his residence, 958 Duke St., after an illness of three weeks. Born in Yorkshire, England, Mr. Thompson came to Canada in 1907, residing In Seaforth, Milton and Kitchener, before making his home here. He was employed for many years with the former Parker Steel Shoe, now the Savage Shoe, retiring 15 years ago. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norman Cunningham of Espanola; a son, George Frederick Thompson, Preston; a sister, Mrs. Harriett Eden, Birmingham, England; and two brothers, Percy and George Thompson in Australia, His wife, Florence Jessop, predeceased him Jan. 29, 1948. A son, Percy, was killed overseas in 1917, at Passchendale. During his many years of residence in Preston, he made a large circle of friends. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, where funeral will be held, Thursday, with service at St. John's Anglican Church, at 2: 30. Interment will be in Preston Cemetery.
