  Native Of South Dumfries Passes In Paris - Death claimed a native of South Dumfries on Monday morning with the passing in Willett Hospital, Paris, of Mrs. Walter Nichol, in her 83rd year. She was removed to hospital last week after sustaining a fractured hip in a fall. Born Jean Easton, she spent her younger years on the parental farm, now owned by Albert Gillespie. Her parents, Robert Easton and Euphemia Laidlaw, were Scottish pioneers whose descendants still live in this vicinity. Following her marriage to Walter Nichol, the couple took up residence in Paris, where Mr. Nichol operated a blacksmith shop for many years prior to his death. Surviving are two sons, Ralph and Robert, both of Paris; a sister, Mrs. John P. McCommon (Bessie), Paris, and a brother, John, in the West. Andrew L. Easton, a former prominent Ayr citizen, who passed away a number of years ago, was also a brother. The funeral was held in Paris this (Wednesday) afternoon, with interment in Ayr Cemetery.
