Woman Succumbs to Burns
Mrs. John Cober of Hespeler, who was badly burned and injured when her clothing was set on fire by the bursting of a coal oil stove at the home of her sister, Mrs. George Washburn, on Thursday, July 17, 1919, after about 15 hours of intense suffering, despite every effort of the medical skill of Dr. Black, Dr. Hutchinson and nurse, Miss Buckner to save her life. Mrs. Cober, who was in her 76th year, was born at Carlisle, ON but had lived in the Hespeler district most of her life. She resided at Ethel for thirty-five years, at Brussels nearly five years and for eleven years in Puslinch Township, also in Preston and Hespeler. She had lived with her sister, Mrs. G. Washburn on Cooper St., Hespeler. She was predeceased by her husband eleven years ago and is survived by three sons: Ephraim of Toronto; Norman of Detroit; Aaron of Weybourne, SK; one daughter, Mrs. E. H. McGinnis of Hespeler; two brothers, Enoch Eaton and Nelson Eaton; two sisters, Mrs. G. Washburn and Mrs. Amos Sauder, all of Hespeler. The funeral took place on Fri., July 18 at Brussels, her body being taken via G. T. R. from Hespeler.
