FORMER POINT GREY ASSESSOR IS DEAD

John Clemens, 6592 East Boule- vard, retired member of the civic assessment commission, and former assessor of Point Grey, died on Saturday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Funeral Chapel, with Rev. E. D. Braden officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Burnaby. Mr. Clemens was born in Waterloo County, Ont., in 1869, and went to Birtle, Man., as a young man. He was active in town politics, and served as mayor from 1904 to 1907. He came to Vancouver in 1909, and in 1910 became first permanent assessor of Point Grey municipality. He held this position under every Point Grey reeve, and after amalgamation in 1929 he joined the city's assessment commission. He retired on April 1 1935.
