Notes |
- A Happy New Year to all.
Get out your guns ! Not to shoot the Yankees, but to shoot the chicken thieves that go prowling about at night when honest people are in their beds. About two weeks ago a party drove up the lane to Frederick Burschatzki's house and stole two geese. Last week Mr. Aaron Shantz lost a very fine gobbler in the same manner. One person got oil the rig by the house in which Ben. Bauman resides and went across the field to Mr. Shantz's barn, while the one in the rig drove up the lane towards the farm that used to belong to Mr. James Johnson, and turned around and waited for his mate who had gone across the field for ths turkey. Mr. Shantz thought there was someone about but did not think of them going across the fields, and so they made good their escape and went east.
