    • Professional Hockey Player. A member of the famed Seibert hockey family, his father was early hockey player Oliver Seibert. A native of Berlin (later Kitchener), Ontario, he played the position of Defense for the National Hockey League's New York Rangers from 1931 to 1936, Chicago Blackhawks from 1935 to 1945, and the Detroit Red Wings from 1944 to 1946. He was named to the 1935, 1942, 1943, and 1944 First All-Star Team Defense, and to the 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1940, and 1941 Second All-Star Team Defense. After retiring from playing hockey, he became a head coach for the minor league Springfield Indians from 1946 to 1951, and the Indianapolis Capitols from 1946 to 1947, both of the American Hockey League (AHL). Seibert, who lived in Detroit, Michigan, and West Springfield, Massachusetts, relocated to the town of Agawam, Massachusetts, in 1952. It was there that he became a successful businessmn, having owned and operated the State Line Package Store for 38 years. He passed away at the Western Massachusetts Hospital in 1990, at the age of 79. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a Player in 1963. His father who died in 1944, had been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame two years earlier.
