- PENNER, Susan - Passed away early Easter morning Sunday April 8, 2007, at Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton. Susan resided at Nithview Home, New Hamburg. She was born 96 years ago in Lustigstal, Crimea a daughter of the late Peter and Kornelia (Loewen) Tjart and emigrated to Canada in 1926. Susan was a member of W-K United Mennonite Church, Waterloo where she enjoyed taking part in the Sewing Circle and had served with her husband as lifetime Deacon from 1955. Susan was an accomplished seamstress, helping many families in the New Hamburg area. She was a tireless supporter of the Mennonite Central Committee, especially sewing toddler jumpers for relief work. Beloved wife of the late William W. Penner who predeceased her August 11, 2002. Loving mother of Linda and her husband Robert Bergey of Brampton. Sadly missed by grandchildren Christopher and his wife Lisa Bergey of Etobicoke, Suzanne and her husband Jeremy Stacey of Brampton and by her two great-grandsons Hayden and Jacob Stacey. Lovingly remembered by her sisters Anne and her husband Dave Boldt of Saskatchewan, Nellie Froese, and brother Isaac Enns, both of British Columbia as well as a number of nieces and nephews and their families. Susan was predeceased by brother Gerhard and his wife Margaret Tjart, sister Nettie and her husband John Janzen, brother-in-law Peter Froese and sister-in-law Tina Enns. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at W-K United Mennonite Church, Waterloo on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Ed Janzen and Nancy Brubaker officiating. Burial to follow at 5 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or W-K Church Ark Fund.
