- MRS. H. HYMMEN DIES AT HOSPITAL
Death Claims Second Victim of Wednesday's Level Crossing Tragedy; Was Beloved Woman
Another death as the result of the tragic level crossing accident at Lancaster St., Wednesday night, when a car owned by Homer Hymmen was struck by the eastbound passenger train at 7:15, occurred at the K-W hospital this morning in the passing away of Mrs. Hymmen, mother of Ward Hymmen who died at the hospital Wednesday night, following the accident. Mrs. Hymmen suffered severe lacerations of the head and internal injuries. Following her removal to the hospital she was unconscious until five o'clock Thursday morning. During the day and on Friday her condition remained the same. The end came at four o'clock this morning. Little hope was held out for the recovery of Ward Hymmen, aged 13, when he was admitted to the institution, where his death came at eleven o'clock the night of the accident. His right arm was practically severed above the elbow and he was also suffering from a fractured skull and severe lacerations of the hip and legs. The other occupants of the car, Mr. Hymmen, Miss Sarah Leis, Keith Hymmen aged 12, and Eric Hymmen aged 10, were also severely injured. Their condition is slightly improved today. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Hymmen was Miss Clara Dunke. She was a true devoted wife and mother, quiet and unassuming and wrapped up in her happy family. From early girlhood she was a faithful member and worker in the Benton St. Baptist Church and was a member of the public library staff. she leaves to mourn her loss her husband, two sons, Keith and Eric, a sister Miss Ida Dunke and two brothers, Charles B. Dunke and Edwin B. Dunke all of this city. The funeral of the late Mrs. Hymmen and Ward Hymmen will be held Monday afternoon at three o'clock.
