- Rev. Krauth, Cleric for 60 Years, Dies
A clergyman for 60 years, Rev. Charles F. Krauth, 82, of 206 Strange St., died Tuesday at his home, after a brief illness. Born Dec. 6, 1872, in Germany, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Krauth. He came to Canada 26 years ago. He preached for the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church until 1917. At that time he joined the Baptist church and had pastorates, in New York state and Ontario. His last charge was in New Dundee. Several years ago he was named pastor emeritus of the New Dundee Baptist Church. His marriage to the former Lavina Baker took place in 1897 at Stayner, Ont. Surviving besides his wife are a son, George of Brocton, N.Y.; a brother, Matthew of Toronto and five sisters, Mrs. Edward Fisher of Kitchener, Mrs. Hanna Brittain and Mrs. Annie Brittain of Toronto, Mrs. Elias Chalk and Mrs. Charles Beckner, both of Detroit, Mich. One grandson also survives. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, where the funeral will be conducted, Friday, at 3: 30 p.m. Burial will be in First Mennonite Cemetery, Kitchener. Rev. J. E. McCauley of New Dundee, will officiate.
