A. Sophia Weber
Miss A. Sophia Weber died in Guelph last Thursday following a lengthy illness. She was 86.
Born in Wallace Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Menno S. Weber, she moved to Chicago, Ill., for several years to receive her nurses training and practice nursing before returning to the K-W area.
She was a graduate of the Passavant Memorial Hospital school of nursing in Chicago, Ill. She worked as a registered nurse for Kaufman Footwear Ltd. for 30 years prior to her retirement in 1959.
Miss Weber was a member of Trinity United Church, the Business and Professional Women's Club, the K-W Council of Women and the Family Service Bureau.
She also served on the boards of the K-W YWCA and the K-W Orphanage.
Surviving are one foster son, Frederick of Kitchener; one foster daughter, Mrs. Edith LeLacheur of Guelph, four brothers, N.K. Weber of Portage la Prairie, Man., John H. Weber of Bridgeport, Rev. U.K. Weber and Walter E. Weber, both of Kitchener; three sisters, Mrs. Irvin B. (Lena) Weber and Mrs. Elven (Mabel) Shantz, both of Kitchener and Mrs. Ephriam (Edna) Shantz of New Hamburg.
She was predeceased by one brother, Irvin K. Weber and one sister, Mrs. M.B. (Layiria) Shantz.
Funeral service was conducted Saturday at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home in Kitchener. Rev. John H. Patterson of Trinity United Church officiating.
