  Henry Wolfhard, Ex-Hardware Man, Dies at 85 Henry Wolfhard, 85, one of Kitchener's pioneer hardware dealers, died at his home 389 Queen St. South, early today. He had been in poor health for some time. Mr. Wolfhard started in the hardward business on King St. West where the present Kresge store stands. His partner was Philip Gies and the firm was known as the Gies-Wolfhard Hardware Co. The store opened for business Jan. 2, 1889. In Second Store Mr. Gies later sold out to Mr. Wolfhard and Co. with George Sehl and William K. Weber as partners. This firm continued operations until 1928 when Mr. Sehl purchased the business and carried on alone under the name of Sehl Hardware. Mr. Wolfhard was a keen supporter of athletics and was well known as an enthusiastic baseball fan. Born in Kitchener, Oct. 1, 1863. he was the son of the late Peter Wolfhard and Margareta Besserer. His wife, the former Elizabeth Kutt, predeceased him in 1928. One Son Survives He is survived by one son, Harry, of Montreal, former manager of the Merchants Rubber Factory here, and one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Edith) Menzies, Kitchener. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive, him. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Katherine Hertel, Kitchener. The funeral will be public Friday at 3 p.m. from his late residence followed by entombment at the Woodland Mausoleum. The body is resting at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home until tomorrow afternoon.
