- RITTINGER, FREDERICK was one of two sons of Herman and Louise (Hoffman) Rittinger, and was a native son of Berlin.
He was educated at the local schools and attended the University of Toronto, graduating in medicine in 1920. He returned to Kitchener to practice as an assistant to Dr. H. M. Lackner after two years he moved to Cleveland where he practised pediatrics.
He obtained specialist certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, and was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Cleveland Academy of Medicine.
He died in Cleveland on March 22, 1956 at the age of 58 years.

St. Luke's Staff Member Was Born in Canada
Dr. Frederick Rittinger, former head of the pediatrics de partment at St. Luke's Hospital, died late Thursday in the Cleveland Clinic Hospital. He was 58.
Dr. Rittinger, whose home was at 2688 St. James Parkway. Cleveland Heights, had been a Cleveland resident the last 30 years and had been a staff member at St. Luke's all that time.
He was born in what is now Kitchener, Ont., and was graduated in 1920 from the medical school of the University of Toronto. He served his internship in London, Vienna and Toronto.
Dr. Rittinger was a member of the American Medical Association, the Cleveland Academy of Medicine and the American Association of Pediatrics, of which he was a fellow. He was an active member of the Cleveland Skating Club.
He is survived by his wife, Laurene; two daughters, Mrs. Ann Petersen and Mrs. Sandra Barker; a brother, Allan H., and two grandchildren.
Friends may call after 7 tonight at the Millard Sons & Raper funeral home, 11203 Fairhill Road S. E. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Fairmount Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Richard Pacini officiating. The family suggests that friends who so wish may make contributions to the Dr. Frederic Rittinger memorial fund of St. Luke's Hospital.
