  	Charlton, John C. Private. Enlisted with the 111th Battalion Dec. 1, 1915. He was Instructing Sergeant for a while in England but reverted to the ranks to get to France. He served in the Machine Gun Section of the 1st Brigade while in France. At the end of twelve months' service in France he was killed in action on August 31, 1918. He was in his 26th year and a native of Yorkshire, England. He was married. His mother lives at Preston - Mrs. P. Charlton Argyle St., Preston. He was killed in an attack on Vis-en-Artois Switch trenches by the bursting of a shell, and buried 800 yards east of a small village called Heninee. Anglican.
