      PRESTON, Jan. 12 - Albert G. Fach, 66, well-known Preston contractor, died suddenly last night at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. Word of his death came as a shock to many friends. Ailing since just before Christmas due to a heart condition, he had suspended his contracting duties at that time, He was taken seriously ill yesterday. Mr. Fach was born in Kossuth and lived in Preston and district all his life with the exception of a short time spent in the West. He was active in various local endeavors but for the greater part of his life had concentrated on the contracting business in which he was engaged for 40 years. A member of St. Clement's R.C. Church, he was also a member of the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, Annastatis McNanny; three daughters, Mrs. William (Dolly) Short of Preston; Mrs. William (Eileen) Wellsman, Galt, and Miss Joan Fach at home; four sons, Lawrence, Arnold and Clement Fach, all in Preston, and Frank Fach, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Klein, Guelph, and Mrs. John Beitz, Preston; three brothers, Jacob Fach, Manitoba, Kenneth Fach, Guelph and Christopher Fach of Blair. Four grandchildren also survive. Two sisters, Mrs. James Kelly, Preston, and Mrs. Leo O'Connor, Pasadena, Calif., and two brothers, Frank of Saskatchewan and Guy of Kossuth, predeceased him. The body is resting at the residence, 916 Queen St., where the funeral will be held Monday with requiem high mass at St. Clement's R.C. Church at 9 a.m. Interment will be in the R.C. cemetery.

      WORKMAN IN WELL HURT AS HEAVY TACKLE FALLS

      PRESTON. - Albert Fach, Preston contractor, suffered a fractured shoulder, brain concussion and a possible skull fracture when a 300 - pound block and tackle fell 25 feet and struck him as he worked at the bottom of a well here. Fach was taken to hospital in Kitchener. The block and tackle, used for lowering tiles, snapped from the supporting ring under the strain of the heavy tiles. A bucket used for bringing earth from the excavation was used in raising Fach from the well.
