- Mr. R.J. Kerr Died at Kitchener
The death occurred at Kitchener on Tuesday evening of Mr. Robert James Kerr, at the age of 56 years. The deceased was a former well known and popular citizen of New Hamburg and the announcement of his death occasioned deep regret among his many friends in town and vicinity. He had been suffering with diabetes for several years and his death was not unexpected. The deceased was a son of the late William Kerr and Mrs. Hannah Kerr and was born on the Kerr homestead, Huron Road. He spent his boyhood days on the farm but later came to New Hamburg and was in the undertaking and furniture business and then in the flour and feed business until he moved to Kitchener about 18 years ago. He was married to Miss Ada Mitchell, daughter of the late Thomas Mitchell, who is left to mourn his death, besides his aged mother and four brothers, namely W. H. Kerr, of Lumsden, Sask., A. E. Kerr and Walter Kerr, of the Huron Road, and Arthur Kerr, of Brussels. The late Mr. Kerr was a member of the Masonic lodge and an adherent of the Anglican Church. The funeral will be held this afternoon with services at his late home in Kitchener followed by interment at St. James Cemetery, Huron Road, Rev. Mr. Lang-Ford of Kitchener and Rev. Mr. Pogson, rector of the local parish will officiate at the obsequies.
