Notes |
- THE ELECTRIC METER & STAMPING CO.
A recent industrial acquisition of New Hamburg, and an exceedingly promising one, is the Electric Meter & Stamping Co. The Secretary-Treasurer and General Manager of the company is Mr. John H. Messner, a gentleman with many years of successful experience on the credit side of his business ledger. The firm occupies the large factory premises formerly owned by the Canada Furniture Manufacturers and their push and energy have once more converted the place into a busy hive of industry. It is scarcely two years since the company decided to locate in New Hamburg, the inducement being a substantial bonus, a concession not likely to be rued by the enterprising ratepayers. Steady growth has attended the firm and today they are running full time and a full staff. They employ almost 50 people. Their product is a varied line of specialties, which includes such articles as trunk metal goods; sash lifts and locks and other articles falling under the head of builders' hardware; draw or pull hooks for cabinet works; all kinds of wire coat and hat hooks; stove lifters and oven racks and certain handle levers for agricultural implements. They also turn out sheet metal stamping goods, as clips for hammocks which arc rapidly displacing much cast and malleable material, beer box hasps, corner iron clamps and folding bed hinges. Still other articles arc carriage and seat brackets, felloe plates, incubator whistles, screw pulleys, shelf brackets, letter-box plates, push plates, hinges, cupboard catches, stair plates, door springs, etc. A specialty is made of copper, brass and nickel plating and Japanning.
