Of Niagara Falls, Ont., passed away, on Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at Fairfax Hospital, Washington, D.C., in her 51st year. Penelope Schmidt, beloved wife of William (Bill) Verkerke; dear mother of Candace Howard of Niagara Falls and Kimberly Taylor of Cambridge; beloved daughter of Grace Schmidt of Niagara Falls and the late Lloyd Schmidt. Dear sister of Deborah Good and her husband Harvey of St. George and Jim Schmidt and his wife Linda of Calgary, Alta. Lovingly remembered by four grandchildren. Penelope was predeceased by her sister, Christina Goyette. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Andrew Paulsen, officiating. Cremation to follow.
