  Schmidt - At Kitchener, on Feb. 25th, Alphonsine Fischer, beloved wife of Nicholas Schmidt, aged 49 years. New Hamburg Independent, February 27, 1920 _______________________ Died - The death took place at her home in Kitchener on Wednesday evening of Mrs. Nicholas Schmidt at the age of 49 years. The deceased had been ill with pneumonia for about two weeks. Her condition had been critical for several days and although she showed signs of improvement, a turn for the worse set in and she passed away late on Wednesday evening. The late Mrs. Schmidt's maiden name was Alphonsine Fischer, a daughter of Mr. Dominick Fischer, of New Hamburg, and was born in Alsace-Lorraine, coming to Canada with her parents when a child of 10 years old. After her marriage she resided in Wisconsin for about six years, and then came to New. Hamburg, where she had been a resident for over fifteen years. For the past four years she resided in Kitchener. The deceased was a faithful adherent of the Catholic Church and greatly beloved by a wide circle of friends. She leaves to mourn her demise, besides her husband, a family of four sons and four daughters. One son, Emil, resides in this town. She is also survived by her father and four brothers and one sister, namely: Dominick, of Minnesota; Emil, of Hortonvllle, Wisc.; Albert, of New Hamburg; Charles, of Rochester, Pa., and Mary, of Kitchener. The funeral will take place from her late residence Kitchener on Saturday forenoon to St. Mary's R. C. Church and R. C. Cemetery, Kitchener.
