  • Notes
    • SHOEMAKER, Robert Leander - Peacefully at his residence, Guelph, on Monday, April 14, 2008, surrounded by his family and friends. Bob Shoemaker, in his 85th year, after a rich and full life. Beloved husband of the late Ruth C. (Hallman) Shoemaker (1994). His precious and happy spirit will be forever missed by son, Bob and his wife Jayne of Southampton and daughter, Nancy of Guelph. Missed by grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) and Rob (Kelly) and great-grandchildren, Maddie and Finn. Dear brother of the late Arthur. Bob will also be fondly remembered by good friend, Dorothy Small and her son, Bill and caregivers, Novie and Diane. We will all remember Bob in the places he loved best: his work; on the golf course; in his garden and at the cottage. His passion for travel was only surpassed by his joy in planning the adventure. Bob had a wonderful sense of humour and was the author of many practical jokes aimed at family and friends. He was commissioned in 1950 as an Ontario Land Surveyor, planning and surveying throughout southern Ontario for more than 50 years. He served as Chairman of the Guelph Planning Board; Board Member of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce; Member of the Guelph Curling Club; Board Member of Norfolk Street United Church; Member of Wellington Men's Club and Probus. Thanks to Dr. T. Toban, C.C.A.C. and the Palliative Team from Bayshore. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel , 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph (Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.). Funeral on Thursday morning, April 17, 2008 from Norfolk Street United Church at 11 a.m. Interment Memory Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Norfolk Street United Church or the charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home 519-821-5077 or send condolences at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com).
