Notes |
- The hearts of Oberlin and Decatur county people were saddened last Tuesday when the news of the death of Probate Judge Weir Flashed over the wire from Topeka. While his condition for some time has been most critical the news did not come as a surprise. Judge Weir was comparatively, a young man. He seemed strong and in the vigor of life and manhood until a few weeks ago he was taken with a pain in the head. It was on of the unusual occurrences in life and he was taken to Topeka that specialists might investigate and, if possible, give some relief. Little, if any, encouragement was give from the start. Relief could only come through an operation which relieved a pressure of puss from the brain, but no assurance could follow of a permanent relief and recovery. After the operation the Judge hovered from day to day between life and death finally the Angel of Death claimed him. The untimely and sudden death of Judge Weir cast a sorrow over many hearts. He was man that people learned to love, he was honest and upright almost to a fault. As Probate Judge he gave the best of satisfaction, because of determination to be right in all matters. While the family has lost a loving husband and a faithful father the public has lost a most efficient and conscientious officer. The sympathy of the entire people goes out to the members of the grief stricken family and while we can do nothing to lessen the sorrow, we can point to the blessed promise that in the future we may reunite with our loved ones and that there will be no more sorrow, pain or death, neither parting. We can not, bring loved ones back, but we can go to them in time.
