  In the 1911 census, 14-year-old Herbert was living with his parents Otto and Amelia Heinrich at 159 Albert St. in the Waterloo North riding of Ontario. The family's neighbours were Isadore (Israel), Hattie and Margaret Miller (his future wife). Herbert was employed as a gardener. In the 1930 U.S. census, Herbert and Marguerite Heinrich and their two daughters were residents of Wayne, Michigan. They lived at 5595 French Road.
