- Death Calls Many Leaders All Phases of Civic Life Are Affected; Three Clerics Die
The death of Charles Bruder, widely known hotel operator, on the second last day of 1940 climaxes a lengthy list of prominent deaths in both Kitchener and Waterloo this year. Practically every phase of community life was affected. Although possibly business suffered most through the loss of eight executives, industrial, civic and social circles were also hit. Clergymen, a lawyer, a dentist and a former police chief were also called by death.
In the passing of O.W. Thompson, 57, who died Nov. 19, the community lost a man long interested in civic and political affairs. He was a former alderman and Conservative candidate in the 1937 election. Mr. Thompson was a fox rancher.
