- SHIRY, Harold Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at St. Luke's Place, Cambridge, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Hilda (nee Merlau) whom he married June 6, 1964. Dear father of Pauline, Brian and his wife Rebecca and Helen and her husband Blair Capling. Sadly missed by grandchildren Benjamin and Jack Shiry, Jordan, Jasper and Jesse Capling. Survived by sisters-in-law Ruth Fuhr, Nelma Merlau, and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Alfred and Minnie Shiry, brothers-in-law Lorne Fuhr, Henry Merlau and Edward Dedels and sister-in-law Eleanor Dedels. Harold was a dairy farmer in the Waterloo Region for many years until he retired in 2008. He also won many awards for public speaking and was a graduate of Emmanuel Bible School. Harold's family will receive relatives and friends from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue from 10: 30 - 11: 15 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Missionary Church (3849 King St. E., Kitchener) on Saturday, September 7, 2013, followed by a funeral service at 11: 30 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment at Rush's Cemetery, Wellesley. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Faith Evangelical Missionary Church, Beacon Baptist Church or St. Luke's Place, Cambridge would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
