Chapped Hands |
- Take 10 grains of tragacanth and place in 3 ounces of moderately warm (not hot) water. Allow to stand for 2 hours, then add 1 ounce of glycerine and a few drops of oil of roses at the same time. Stir and mix well. This remedy is soothing and pleasant, and an almost infallible cure, after 2 or 3 applications. Apply before retiring at night and after washing in the morning.

Notes |
- HUEHNERGARD, HENRY H. was born in Bamberg, a son of Louis Huehnergard, on December 26, 1884. He was educated in the Berlin schools, and graduated in medicine from the University of Toronto in 1906. In 1907 he undertook post graduate studies, with emphasis on obstetrics and gynaecology, at the University of Berlin, Germany.
In 1908 he located in Berlin, Ontario, when on July 8th. the Berliner Journal remarked on his arrival:
Dr. Harry H. Huehnergard, son of Mr. Louis Huehnergard has opened an office in his father's residence on Waterloo St. He has completed his studies at Toronto University with success, and has in addition taken important postgraduate studies in Berlin, Germany, so that he is highly recommended for all the sick and suffering. Children's diseases are the specialty of the young doctor.
For thirty six years he carried on a practice devoted chiefly to obstetrics and anaesthesia. Outside his practice he had a continuing interest in municipal and community affairs. For four years he served on the Board of Education, and for three years, from 1915 to 1917 was a member of the City Council, when he was chairman of the finance committee.
In 1923 he acted as an examiner in obstetrics for the Ontario Medical Board,
A keen curler and golfer, he was a member of the clubs devoted to these sports. He belonged as well to the usual professional organizations.
Possessed of an equable disposition, he was much given to whistling, even at times of stress. A neighboring physician used to tell of being asked by Dr. Huehnergard to give an anaesthetic for an office procedure. Just as the operation was about to start, the patient threw off the ether mask, jumped off the table and sped out the door, down Water Street towards King, The anaesthetist went in pursuit, tackled him and led him back to the office, to find Dr. Huehnergard leaning against the door, watching with interest, and whistling.
After a considerable period of ill health, he died on February 2, 1945. He was survived by his widow and one daughter.
