- Shantz, Verle - Following a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side, at Freeport Hospital Health Care Village, on Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994, Verle Shantz, age 72 years, of Kitchener.
Mr. Shantz was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and was employed with BF Goodrich for over 44 years until his retirement. He was president of union local No. 73 at B.F. Goodrich for many years and served in the Second World War in the Canadian Navy.
Beloved husband of the former Ruby (nee Mikel), with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage, Dear father of Linda Eccles and Gary Shantz, both of Waterloo. Beloved grandfather and will be greatly missed by grandson, Greg Eccles. Dear brother of Margaret (Mrs. Roy Chesterman), Elva (Mrs. Lester Zehr) and Minnota Brenneman, all of Kitchener.
Predeceased by his parents, Elmon Shantz and the former Elizabeth Roth and his granddaughter, Lori Lynn Eccles in infancy.
Friends and relatives may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Tuesday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral and committal service in the Ratz-Bechtel Chapel on Wednesday, 2: 30 p.m. with Rev. Donald Pond officiating. Internment Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
Reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre. Memorial donations to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Freeport Hospital Health Care Vollage or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
