- Valentine F. Weber, 108 Young Street, passed away yesterday afternoon at his residence, after having been in ailing health for the past year. He was born in Williamsburg 84 years ago.
The late Mr. Weber was in the grocery business here for 20 years and later entered the cartage business, from which he retired four years ago. He also served on City Council for a period of 16 years.
He was a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters, the St. Boniface Society and also the Holy Name Society. He attended St. Mary's RC Church.
A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Weber, Mr. Weber is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Pernfuss, who he married in Kitchener in 1882, three sons, Richard of Toronto; Claude of Woodstock; and Wilfred of Kitchener; four daughters, Mrs. N. Trudell of Ottawa; Mrs. H. Hurd of Chicago; Mrs. E. Hinschberger of Kitchener; and Mrs. H. Steffler of Bridgeport.
Four brothers, Joseph and William of Detroit; George of Brantford; and Edward of Carrie, Ind.; and one sister Mrs. Mary Vetter of Alberta, also survive in addition to 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning with prayers at the residence at 8:30 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Mount Hope RC Cemetery.
The remains are resting at the late residence.

Valentine F. Weber was a clerk in Simon Yost's grocery in the mid-eighties. In 1888 he started a grocery himself at 18 Frederick Street. There he built up a yearly turnover of $75,000. Mr. Weber sat in the town council sixteen years, and was active in fraternal societies.
