- SENT FLOWERS HOME THAT WERE PICKED AT LENS
Henry Delion, of the Telegraph staff this morning received a letter from his son, Bugler Harry Delion, who enlisted with the 118th Battalion, in which he sent a number of interesting souvenirs of the Canadian drive on Lens. They were English flowers that had been planted near the mining city and were in bloom at the present and which were picked by young Delion during one of the assaults that were made by the Canadian troops on the city. Bugler Delion states that he is growing tall, fat and strong but he needs every ounce he has for the work that they are being called upon to delay after day. He informs his parents that the parcels sent by them and friends are being received regularly.

The intelligence was also received here this morning that Private C. A. Delion, son of Mr. and Harry Delion. 258 King East, had given his life in the cause which Empire and Allies are the fighting. The message which brought information follows:
Harry Delion, 258 King East.

Director of Records.
Friends and citizens regret hear of the young man's death what seems a loss is but a gain. His sacrifice will stand out as living monument of unselfishness and Canadian manhood and will allay feelings of remorse. Only 16 years of age he heard the call and deep patriotism brought him the ranks of the 118th Battalion. He went overseas with that unit. From England he was subsequently transferred to France. He eighteen years of age.
Besides his parents there survive brothers and two sisters, all home.
The young man was of a cheerful genial disposition and had many admirers. He was the patrol leader the Boy Scouts, who to-day give to his good and promising qualities. By occupation he was an apprentice at the baking trade.
