Barbara Kropf Resz was born May 10, 1848, and died Nov. 4, 1921, aged 73 years, 5 months and 24 days. She was married to Henry Resz, May 26, 1870. To this union were born nine children, six of whom survive her. Three died while young. Those living are: Jacob Resz, of Long Beach, Calif., David, John and Edward Resz, and Mrs. Thos. Buck and Mrs. Earl Cochran of Appleton City. Mrs. Resz was born at Toronto [sic], Canada , and resided there until 18 years of age, when she came to this country with her parents, living in Missouri the greater part of her life. Her husband, Henry Resz, died July 27th, 1911. They were both members of the S. D. A. church for about 28 years. She lived a consistent, faithful christian life until death. She was all that the word "mother" stands for to her children, a kind and sympathetic neighbor, and highly respected and loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by the town, her church and family. She suffered a paralytic stroke October 31st and died Friday, Nov. 4.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church Sunday afternoon at 2: 00 o'clock, Elder L. W. Terry, officiating, assisted by H. C. Hartwell of Clinton, and W. W. Blalock, pastor of the Christian church. A large and sympathetic audience was present and the floral offerings were beautiful. Everyone seemed not only willing but anxious to do anything they could to show their kindly interest. May the Lord reward the good people of Appleton City for their kindness. She was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the City Cemetery.
