Notes |
- ERB, Dr. R. Gordon Gordon moved from his earthly life to eternal life on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Grand River Hospital after being ill a brief time. He was 87 years of age. Born and raised in Toronto, he was a medical doctor at St. Anthony and Baie Verte, Newfoundland in the 1950s and in Cambridge from 1961 to 1996. He loved his tree farm near Owen Sound. He was actively involved at Wanner Mennonite Church since 1961 and supported the work of the wider Mennonite Church through his various activities and contributions over the years. For years he was closely involved with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. He was pre- deceased by his brother John and sister Margaret and is survived by his sister Olive Tipp (Charles) of Alberta. In 1949 he married Dorothy Thornton who survives him. Their three children John (Shireen Palamkote) of Lansdowne, Ontario, Anne Panciera (Michael) of Berea, Kentucky, Margaret Erb ( Peter Schonherr) of Ottawa survive him, and six grandchildren: Nicholaus (Becky) Bauman, Conrad Erb, Katie Panciera (Ben Miller), Anthony Panciera, Lydia and Eileen Schonherr, and three great-grandchildren. Much loved by Betti Erb (Greg Van Horn). Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 2: 00 to 4: 00 p.m. and 7: 00 to 9: 00 p.m. and the memorial service on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 2: 00 p.m. with both visitation and memorial service taking place at Wanner Mennonite Church, 1725 Beaverdale Road, Hespeler. Cremation has taken place. Donations in memory of Gordon to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) (for Typhoon Haiyan Response) or Wanner Mennonite Church would be appreciated. Romans 8: 28 We know that in all things God works for good to those who love Him.
