- SMITH, Leoma (Klehn) - The family of Leoma Smith sorrowfully announces her passing, on Tuesday, March 19, 1991, in her 96th year. She died peacefully, at Freeport Hospital Health Care village. Beloved wife of the late J. Albert Smith, former mayor of Kitchener, MPP, and noted horticulturist; loving mother of Elaine (Mrs. Arthur Fitton), Phyllis (Mrs. Ralph Forbes) and Lou Smith, all of Kitchener-Waterloo; dear grandmother of Russell Forbes, Peter Fitton, Elaine (Mrs. Charles Orston), Jeffrey and Peter Smith and a special great-grandmother of 10. She was a charter member of the Tommy Atkins IODE Chapter, former secretary of the YWCA, first president of the Winnifred Tweed Women's Liberal Association, a convenor of the Women's Volunteer Service and an active member of Zion United Church. A private family memorial service will be held later. The family wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the K-W and Freeport Hospitals for their compassionate care of their dear one. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the K-W Hospital Foundation or the Freeport Hospital Foundation. She enjoyed her life and knew great joy from her husband and family, all of whom dearly loved and admired her. Arrangements by the Edward R.
