- John R. Eden, Mayor, 1899- 1900 and 1902-3.
Mr. John R. Eden was mayor of Berlin in the years 1899, 1900 and 1902-3. Previous to that, in 1897-8, he sat on the council as reeve and represented the town in the county council. Also in 1903-4 he represented the town in the county council for a term of two years.
During his term of office, the C. P. R. connection was secured and during his first term as mayor the waterworks was put in the hands of a commission. The lighting plant was also purchased during his term of office. In 1.903 he had the hon-or of entertaining Lord Minto, then Governor-General of Canada.
