    • Passed away, peacefully, at Vineland United Mennonite Home, Vineland, on Thursday, July 12, 2007, Lydia Friesen, formerly of Fairmount Road, Kitchener, in her 94th year. Lydia was born in Nikolayevka, Ukraine on April 11, 1914, a daughter of the late Abraham and Katharina (Bergen) Friesen. Lydia was a member of W-K United Mennonite Church, Waterloo, and worked for many years at Budd's Department Store, Kitchener. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Erich Krause. Lydia was the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Abram in childhood, and Jacob; five sisters, Tina, Maria Karnot, Louise, Margaret Schiel, and Anna Krause, and brothers-in-law, George Schiel and Alex Karnot. Friends are invited to share their memories of Lydia at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, July 16, 2007 from 2 p.m. until 2: 45 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate her life and faith will be held in the chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Nancy Brubaker officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the Historic Kuntz House of the funeral home. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Vineland United Home for their compassionate care and concern. In living memory of Lydia, a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
