- Edna Snider, daughter of Tillman and Magdeline Snider, was born in Ontario, Canada on August 20, 1880. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of 10 years, in 1890, and settled in the Sanborn, Iowa, vicinity. Here she attended school and grew to young womanhood.
She was united in marriage to Clare Hakeman of Sanborn, Iowa on June 10, 1903. Their entire married life was lived in Sanborn where her husband, Clare, was manager of the Sanborn Cooperative Grain Company.
Clare and Edna entered the Prairie View Retirement Home in September of 1967 where they lived until his death January 8, 1969. She continuted to make her home there and passed away there suddenly on December 28, 1975 at the age of 95 years, four months and eight days.
She is survived by three sons: Cornyle and George of Sanborn, Iowa, and James of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters: Mrs. Lawrence (Margaret) Hickey of Sanborn, and Dorothy Foote of Des Moines, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; two sisters: Mabel Higgins of Dequim Washington and Elthen Turner of Seal Beach, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clare on January 8, 1969; one son in infancy; two brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sanborn.
