- Ernest C. Schmidt - Ernest C. Schmidt, 71, of 226 Herbert St., Waterloo, died Thursday at his home after a brief illness. He had lived in the Twin Cities for 40 years. Mr. Schmidt was born March 11, 1893, at Baden, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schmidt. He served overseas during the First World War with the 118th Battalion and was a member of both the Kitchener and Waterloo Legion branches. He also was a member of Germania Lodge of the Odd Fellows and the Samaritan Encampment. His wife, the former Mary Anna Sattler, died in 1960. Four sisters also predeceased him. Surviving are a daughter, Margaret, at home, and several step-brothers and step-sisters. The body is at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home where the Odd Fellows Lodge will conduct a service tonight at 8 pm. The funeral will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 1 pm with Very Rev. Finlay G. Stewart, chaplain of the Kitchener Legion, officiating. Burial will follow in Heidelberg Lutheran Cemetery.
